THE NEXT STEPS in YOUR JOURNEY WITH JESUS

As a new believer you are experiencing the amazing blessing of being a child of God. The Holy Bible reassures us of God’s love and promises. You are at the very beginning of a brand new life. Your sins have been forgiven, you have a clean slate.  You will feel the glorious joy of the Lord. Read these wonderful truths for yourself in the following Bible verses: John 10:10Romans 4:7 and 1 Peter 1: 8-9.

Did you know the Biblical meaning of the number 5 is ‘grace’?  You have been saved by God’s gift of grace, joined with your faith. The Bible verse, Ephesians 2:8, says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.”

The "Five Steps Forward" shown below, will help you as you begin your new life in Christ.

Five Steps Forward

Step 1   Begin reading the Bible

Choose a version closest to the original manuscript of the Bible. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you read, He will illuminate the Word so you can understand what God is saying through scripture. (Ephesians 1:18)

Step 2   Begin praying

Prayer is having a conversation with God.  Simple words are fine, there is no formality when speaking with God.  He loves us to talk to Him.  You can begin with the Lord’s Prayer, “Our Father who art in heaven,” (Matthew 6:9-13)

Step 3   Be baptised

Baptism is a symbol of your new life in Christ, rising up from the water is symbolic of rising from the grave and being born again.  The Bible records Jesus’ own baptism in the Jordan river, by John the Baptiser. (Luke 3:21-22)

Step 4   Join a Bible-believing, born-again church

The Bible tells us to have fellowship in a church of like-minded believers. (Hebrews 10:25)  You will find such a beautiful bond of love and family-like relationship with your fellow believers.

Step 5   Tell someone about your faith

Making a verbal statement builds a boldness in you to proclaim that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour.  (Romans 10:9)
